Japan is blessed with some of the world's best skiing, and famed for reliable powder snow. Combine perfect snow, relaxing hot spring onsens, tantalising food washed down with warm sake or a cold Sapporo, with the amazing cultural intrigues of Japan, and it's easy to see why so many travellers return time and again.
Enjoy your holiday at one of Japan's famous, yet affordable, ski resorts, or combine with a personalised trip around Japan to make the most of your trip. Our Asia Travel experts can organise everything from start to end, including flights, or simply your snow resort experience. Niseko on the island of Hokkaido is renowned for being the powder Mecca of Japan. Cold, dry winds come across from Siberia and when they meet the Japan Sea they pick up moisture which is then dumped as snow on Niseko, lots and lots of light, dry Hokkaido powder snow. With plenty of off-piste and backcountry options, Niseko has become popular with skiers and boarders from all over the world and season after season attracts an ever growing international crowd.
Niseko is made up of four connected areas - An’nupuri, Niseko Village, Hirafu and Hanazono. Niseko has a very “international ski village” atmosphere with a range of restaurants catering for all types of cuisine, plenty of bars and nightlife options. Skiing in Niseko is best suited to the beginner to intermediate skier or snowboarder, while the snow is of epic standards the terrain is generally quite mellow. Those looking for more challenging terrain or a more traditional Japanese experience would be best advised to try out other resorts.
The All Mountain Lift Pass covers the entire skiable area of An’nupuri, Niseko Village, Hirafu and Hanazono.
