Suggested Itinerary

Myoko Kogen on the island of Honshu is a powder lovers paradise. Consisting of 4 main ski areas, Myoko Kogen receives one of the heaviest snowfalls in Japan, an average of over 13 metres annually! The ski terrain has something for everyone from gentle, beginner slopes through intermediate and advanced, with 1,124 metres of vertical elevation and the longest run being 8.5km. The town of Akakura sits at the base of Mt Myoko, here there are a good variety of restaurants and bars as well as a convenience store.

Rising above Akakura are the ski resorts of Akakura Onsen and Akakura Kanko. A short bus trip provides access to Ikenotaira Onsen and Myoko Suginohara. All these resorts can be accessed on the Big 4 all mountain pass, they are well connected by shuttle bus. Myoko Kogen is easily accessed from Tokyo via Nagano.

Additionally, for the adventurous and powder hungry the nearby Seki Onsen resort is a favourite because of its steep and deep runs, well worth the little extra cost and effort involved.

The Big 4 All Mountain Lift Pass includes 4 resorts:

  • Akakura Onsen & Akakura Kanko: 760 metres vertical, longest run 4.5km, 28 lifts.
  • Myoko Suginohara: 1,124 metres vertical, longest run 8.5km, 6 lifts.
