You will meet your guide on arrival, transfer and check-in to your hotel. During the drive your guide will provide an introduction to Huangshan, answer any questions you have, and make arrangements for the following day. Enjoy free time for the remainder of the first day.
Of the notable mountains in China, Huangshan or Yellow Mountain, is the most famous. Located in southern Anhui Province, Chinese people say that the landscape of Mount Huangshan features “four wonders”; imposing peaks, spectacular rock formations, odd shaped pines, and a sea of clouds.
Huangshan is also the name of the city located near Mount Huangshan. The city and surrounding areas offers many interesting attractions for visitors including UNESCO World Heritage listed ancient villages.
Your guide will suggest personal restaurant recommendations for this evening.
After breakfast travel to Yixian County and visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed villages of Xidi and Hongcun. The villages display the well preserved traditional Southern Anhui architecture that brought them to international fame in the fantasy martial arts movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Ride a gondola to the top of Mount Huangshan and check into your mountain hotel. Afterwards explore the area and take in the incredible natural beauty.
Waking up early, enjoy the fresh mountain air and watch the rising sun slowly unveil the mountain range panorama - a sight you won't forget quickly. Spend the day hiking this mountain range of Chinese folklore, with highlights such as Lotus Peak, Bright Summit and Flying Rock. In the late afternoon return to your hotel in Huangshan.
Although a basic level of fitness if required for hiking, as with all GetAboutAsia experiences, your guide will adjust the trip to suit your interests and level of fitness.
This morning visit the Shexian County where the local salt merchants grew rich in the seventeenth century. Elaborate townhouses with intricately carved stone archways were built to demonstrate this prosperity. Afterwards visit Chengkan Village with its traditional architecture and Doushan Street area to wander the ancient alleyways.
Later, transfer to the airport for your flight.

"We have had a wonderful start to our adventure. Everything has worked really well, the guides and drivers have been great, the hotels better than our expectations. The itinerary has been varied and interesting with a good mix of culture, history and nature. The hotels have all been very comfortable and centrally located. Overall, lunch has been of an extremely high quality and varied and each guide, Jenny, LuLu and David, went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after at all times. Once again, thank for putting together the first part of this adventure, and please pass our thanks on to the local teams. " — Mr and Mrs Cumming, Sydney, April 2019
