Suggested Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu

Meet your guide at the airport and travel together to your hotel for check-in. During your drive your guide will provide an introduction to Kathmandu, answer your questions and discuss plans for the following day.

Late afternoon enjoy a walking Heritage tour of Kathmandu’s old bazaars, Hanuman Dhoka and Durbar Square. The labyrinth of backstreets and alleys leading from one bazaar to another are pure theatre. We thus emerge into the pulsating Durbar Square and to Hanuman Dokha, the royal palace for 200 years. We return for dinner taking the rickshaws.

Kathmandu is by far Nepal’s largest and most diverse city, a genuine melting pot of ethnicities and cultures and a haven for travellers since its rise to popularity as part of the ‘hippie trail’ in the 60s and 70s. Once described as having more temples than houses, this exhilarating and complex capital is rapidly changing, but the half-hidden temples, chilli-growing courtyards and tiny craft workshops of its narrow lanes and alleyways reveal a city that has not yet abandoned its fascinating traditional cultural identity.

Day 2-3: Chitwan

In the morning take an outing to one of the holiest temples for Hindus in the world- Pashupatinath. Your guide will then take you through the spiritual journey with the engrossing explanation about the Hindu religion, the cycle of birth and death and the story behind the Sadhus- Hindu Holy Men, who renounce their hedonistic social life to devote their life to Shiva (Hindu God of Destruction) to whom the temple is dedicated. Witness one of many cremations along the banks of the Bagmati.

Spiritually stimulated, you travel on for around 15 mins to reach the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal (disputably, in the world). Follow the pilgrims circumambulating the stupa spinning the prayer wheels. Offer your prayers to Lord Buddha lighting a traditional butter lamp at the main entry to the stupa.

Later in the afternoon transfer to the airport for a short flight to Chitwan. As you disembark and drive to your resort, you’ll be astounded by a dramatic change in landscape as the hills, terraced fields and cooler climes give way to flood plains, grasslands and sub-tropical climate of 'Terai' leading to the edges of Chitwan National Park. The Park is regarded as one of the finest national parks in Asia with multitude of wildlife; rhinos, deer, monkeys, and a wide array of birdlife. You might even spot the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger if you are lucky. Over the span of your stay you will enjoy a guided tour through a tribal village, float down the Rapti river in a dug-out canoe with opportunities to view ‘mugger’ crocodiles and unique long-nosed ‘gharial’ crocodiles, go on a jeep safari and on bird watching walks."

Optional Activity: Everest view flight in the morning. Flight takes off from Kathmandu airport (window seats for all the passengers) and flies parallel to the majestic Himalayan range, evoking a heavenly feel as some of the highest peaks in the world, in the including Everest, are sighted. Flight duration: 45mins approx.

Day 4: Kathmandu

This morning fly from Chitwan back to Kathmandu. After landing enjoy some free time for the rest of the day, perhaps exploring the city’s many handicraft, art and book shops.

Day 5: Kathmandu

On your last day, enjoy free time until your departure flight.
