Ask Us a Question

"Zhangjiajie is a national park with approximately 3,100 immense quartzite sandstone pillars reaching to the clouds, some up to 2,600 feet tall. We spent two days catching elevators, escalators, cable cars, shuttle buses, walking up and down hundreds of stair and peering through mist then voila it cleared and rock formations were right in front of us. Avatar was filmed in this area. Given the area is misty between 60% to 70% of the time John thinks the producers of the movie either had industrial strength blowers clearing away the mist or used fancy software to doctor the sky. We were lucky in that we had moving mist on the first day and hints of blue sky and sun the second. It wasn't smog, just nature doing its thing in a mountainous area. Our initial thoughts of our visit to Zhangjiajie were, yes we enjoyed, but was it really worth the long trip there and the late night flight out? After reflecting on things for a while, what we saw and experienced, yes it was worth everything to see and experience such natural beauty and human ingenuity. Zhangjiajie is in a somewhat remote part of a China but once the bullet train is up and running it will be far more accessible. We enjoyed the natural beauty and sheer vastness of the works that now enable so many people to visit these sites. " — Mr and Mrs Cumming, Sydney, October 2017

"The trip was fantastic! We really enjoyed every place we have visited. The best was Xian in terms of high quality hotel, food and the guide was incredibly good. I will definitely recommend GetAboutAsia to my family and friends. " — Patricia Berlioz , Sydney, NSW, April, 2015
